Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Brandon Robinson Guitar 415-309-9309

I was born and raised in Northern California where my earliest musical memories were of my mother singing John Denver, Paul Simon and Willie Nelson songs. Lying around the house was an old Stella guitar that was truly in the "barely playable" category with the strings about 2 inches off the fretboard. Around the age of twelve I started to show an interest in learning how to play, so my mother signed me up for private lessons with the local guitar teacher George Hanepen. By the time I was fifteen I started the inevitable garage band with friends.
After high school I studied with "Gus" Gustavson and Fred Berry at the College of San Mateo, attended as many live shows as possible and started to play jazz with friends. I then transferred to San Francisco State where I was a humanities major. After earning my undergraduate degree I was accepted into the Graduate Program in the English Department at San Francisco State but opted out, deciding that becoming a full time musician was "now or never".
Since that time, 2001, I've balanced playing/performing with teaching. The majority of my playing is with the trio I started with drummer Brandon Etzler and bassist Jason Muscat. Together we play music that is rooted in jazz but covers a broader spectrum of music that hopefully offers an honest perspective of where we come from. We play publicly and privately throughout the Bay Area . Other projects that I'm especially fond of are Dick Fregulia's Good Vibes Quintet, the Collective West Jazz Orchestra and a guitar duo with Doug Martin. My plans for the future are to launch new projects, work on original material and keep the trio working and growing.
